The Bradley Braves will hit the road this weekend for a Missouri Valley matchup against the Evansville Purple Aces at the Ford Center. The Purple Aces come into their home game with a spot in ninth place in the conference standings with a Missouri Valley record of 6-7 and an overall record of 9-15. The team’s most recent game was played against Southern Illinois on Wednesday night and resulted in a 68-59 loss in front of a home crowd of 4400. Tayshawn Comer scored 25 points to lead the Purple Aces’ offense while Gabriel Pozzato chipped in 13 points. Evansville struggled with shooting and collectively went just 34 percent from the field, 33 percent from beyond the arc and 57 percent from the foul line. While the team made up a lot of ground in the second half, the 15-point deficit they went into halftime with was too much to overcome.

The Braves will look to break a three-game losing streak on Saturday night after dropping their last game to Belmont on Wednesday night in a tough 80-77 loss. Despite the losses, the team is still holding strong at second place in the conference standings with a Missouri Valley record of 9-3 and an overall record of 18-6. The Bruins led 39-35 at halftime and although Almar Atlason came off the bench to put up a game-high 28 points for the Braves, the team ultimately fell. Duke Deen and Zek Montgomery were also in double figures in the loss, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Darius Hannah led on the boards with 10 rebounds.

The Braves and the Purple Aces have met a total of 43 times in their history and the Braves hold a 28-15 lead in the all-time series. The teams’ last meeting took place last season and resulted in a narrow 73-70 win for the Purple Aces at home.
