Brown (8-5) and Yale (7-6) open Ivy League play on Saturday when the Bears visit the Bulldogs at the Lee Amphitheater in New Haven, Connecticut. Both teams come off wins in their final non-conference tuneups and Yale is 4-0 at home this season while Brown is 3-3 in true road games. The Bulldogs have played in the NCAA tournament two of the last three years, reaching the second round last season after upsetting Auburn. The Bears’ last trip to the Big Dance came in 1986 and their most recent postseason trip was in the 2019 College Basketball Invitational.

Yale hung up 51 points in the first half en route to a 93-65 drubbing of visiting Howard on New Year’s Day. Samson Aletan led the attack with 19 points while John Poulakidas added 17. Poulakidas leads the team at 20.7 points per game, Nick Townsend averages 13.4 points and 6.8 rebounds and Bez Mbeng posts 11.0 points and 5.8 assists a night.

Brown took on Division III visitor Johnson & Wales on Sunday and ran away for a 98-57 victory. Kino Lilly Jr. scored 16 points to go with eight assists while N’damara Dabo finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lilly gets 19.4 points per game, Landon Lewis drops 14.0 points an outing and Aaron Cooley averages 11.6 points and 7.0 boards.

The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 117-54 after splitting road victories last season. Yale got an 80-70 win on Jan. 9, 2024, before the Bears grabbed an 84-81 overtime triumph on March 9. James Jones is 403-317 in his 26th season leading the Bulldogs while Mike Martin has a 156-176 record in his 12th year at Brown.
