The Northwestern Wildcats take on the Butler Bulldogs on Thursday night in the semifinals of the Arizona Tip-Off. The two teams play the first semifinal with Mississippi State and UNLV playing in the second game. The winners will play in the championship game Friday night, while the losers of the two games will play in the third-place game on Thursday. The Wildcats come into Thursday on a four-game winning streak and 5-1 on the season. They did fall to Dayton 71-66 in their second game of the season but have won four straight since. It hasn’t been easy, though, as they needed overtime to beat Eastern Illinois and only beat Montana State by three. Nick Martinelli has led the team in scoring to start the season as he is averaging 23.8 points per game. Brooks Barnhizer is second in scoring at 16.5 points per game and is grabbing a team-best 8.0 rebounds per game.

The Bulldogs come into Thursday on a three-game winning streak and 4-1 on the season. They were shocked by Austin Peay in their second game of the season, but have picked up big wins over Western Michigan, SMU and Merrimack in their last three games.

They were especially dominant against Merrimack as they doubled the Warriors up in a 78-39 win. Thursday starts a tougher part of the schedule for the Bulldogs as they will play No. 7 Houston, No. 19 Wisconsin, No. 15 Marquette and No. 2 UConn in a five-game stretch.

It will be tough, but Thursday they will look to get a big win as make the championship game of the Arizona Tip-Off.
