March Madness is underway and on Saturday night, the sixth-seeded BYU Cougars will take on the third-seeded Wisconsin Badgers at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado. The Cougars made it through the first round after beating 11th-seeded VCU on Thursday in an 80-71 victory. Richie Saunders paced three Cougars to double digit finishes with his team-high 16 points while Egor Demin added 15 and Fousseyni Traore put up a 13-point performance. Traore and Keba Keita each pulled down nine rebounds to lead the team’s rebounding efforts, helping to hold onto possession. BYU finished the game shooting 50 percent from the field and 35 percent from long range, numbers the Cougars will need to repeat to get by a strong Wisconsin squad.

The Badgers opened tournament play against 14th-seeded Montana on Thursday and played to a big 85-66 win to advance to the round of 32. John Blackwell led the team offensively, posting a 19-point performance while four other Badgers also finished in double figures. Steve Crowl was right behind him with 18 points, going 2-for-5 from the field, 2-for-4 from long range and a perfect 9-for-9 from the line. Wisconsin shot an impressive 55 percent from the field, delivering 38 points from the paint, and finished the game at 30 percent from three-point range.
