After losing to Louisville on the road by 13 points to open January, they bounced back with a big, one-point win over Notre Dame on the road on a game-winning, four-point play by Elliot Cadeau. The Cal Golden Bears are holding onto a .500 record at 8-8 overall this season. However, in their first season as a member of the ACC, they have fallen to 1-4 in the conference. They are tied with Virginia and sit 0.5 games above Boston College and one full game over Miami, who is winless in ACC play this season.

They have won one game this year, beating Virginia at home by 14 points after losing by 12 points to Pitt and 12 points to Clemson on the road. Virginia Tech also ventured across the country this weekend and beat Cal by two points. Andrej Stojakovic leads Cal in scoring this season. He is averaging 20.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.
