Marquette looks to open the season with a third straight win on Monday night when it hosts Central Michigan

The Marquette Golden Eagles host the Central Michigan Chippewas on Monday night in a non-conference battle. The Golden Eagles come into Monday on a two-game winning streak to start the season. They whipped Stony Brook by 40 in their first game and then beat George Mason by 19 on Friday to move to 2-0 on the season. Kam Jones has been great for the Golden Eagles to start the season as he has scored 24 and 32 in the first two games. David Joplin has also been good as he averaging 20.0 points per game in the first two and Chase Ross is also averaging double figures at 17.0 points per game. The Golden Eagles will get a does of the Big Ten in the next two games as they will play Maryland and Purdue, but first want to make sure they don’t get upset by Central Michigan.

The Chippewas, though, are looking to come to town and catch Marquette looking ahead. and pick up a huge upset.

The Chippewas come into Monday 1-1 on the season and have played in two close games to start the year.

They beat South Alabama 74-70 in their season-opener on Monday, but then they lost to Stony Brook 73-72 on Thursday in their second game.

They led the Seawolves throughout most of the game, but gave up a the lead late and took the loss.

The Chippewas have been balanced to start the season as they have five guys averaging at least 10 points per game. Jakobi Heady leads the way at 14.5 points per game and Anthony Pritchard is right behind him at 12.0 points per game.
