They opened up in 2025 after having not played a conference game yet and going 6-7 against non-conference opponents. Their first game in January ended in a 70-64 loss at home to Rice.

They followed it up with an 83-51 loss on the road against UAB for their second conference loss before picking up their first AAC win against UTSA, who is the worst team in the conference at 0-3. Keaston Willis leads the team in scoring this season. The 6-foot-3 senior guard is averaging 13.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 40% from the field.

The Charlotte 49ers are looking to turn their season around as well. They closed out conference play with a record above the .500 level at 7-6, but they have since dropped several conference games to start their AAC run. They lost the first game to Tulane, 83-68, with Nik Graves dropping 14 points in the loss.

Their second loss came against Rice, a similar loss to Tulsa. However, their loss was larger, losing on the road by 13 points. Graves dominated despite the loss dropping 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Earlier this week, they took on Florida Atlantic. Graves leads the team, averaging 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 41% from the field.
