Honor Huff and Devin Tillis will battle as Chattanooga meets UC Irvine in Indianapolis on Thursday night in the championship game of the NIT.

Chattanooga will face off against UC Irvine in the championship game of the National Invitational Tournament at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Thursday night, airing on ESPN. The Anteaters were widely considered a team that should have made the NCAA Tournament in an at-large capacity after it lost to UC San Diego in the final of the conference championship. Nonetheless, they opened the NIT with a first-round win over Northern Colorado by 10 points, 82-72, led by a 24-point game from Devin Tillis on 10-of-15 shooting.

In the second round of the tournament, they matched up with Jacksonville State, winning by five points before heading on to play UAB in the quarterfinals and winning by four points in overtime led by a 22-point night from Tillis. In the semifinals, they took on North Texas and won another close contest, 69-67. Tillis had 16 points in that win, now looking for a championship.

On the other side, the Mocs head into this game with a 28-9 record overall this season. After losing to Furman in the semifinals of the SoCon Championship, they took on Middle Tennessee State and won by six points, 109-103, in overtime. Bash Wieland dropped 31 points in the team’s first-round win. In the second round, they took down Dayton by 15 points on a team-high from Honor Huff with 26 points.

Huff led the team again in the quarterfinals with a win against Bradley by just two points after dropping 21 points himself. Trey Bonham had 17 points and six rebounds as well in that win. In the semifinals on Tuesday, they took on Loyola Chicago and won by seven points, 80-73. Bonham had 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting to lead the team to a championship berth.
