Cincinnati will travel this weekend to Provo, Utah, in a Big 12 Conference men’s college basketball battle. On Saturday night, they will face off against BYU at the Marriott Center. The Cincinnati Bearcats, once ranked in the AP Top 25, are 12-6 overall this season. After finishing 11-1 against non-conference teams, they are having a rough time in their new conference with just a 2-5 record against teams in the Big 12. They are tied with Arizona State and Oklahoma State and just two games above the last-placed team, Colorado.

Cincinnati has played twice in the last seven days, taking on Arizona State last Saturday, winning by seven points, 67-60 at home. Dillon Mitchell, the ex-Texas Longhorn, had 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting in the win. On Tuesday, they came home to Fifth Third Arena and lost against Texas Tech by 10 points. Jizzle James had 17 points with a team-high three assists in the loss.
The BYU Cougars are also 12-6 overall this season heading into this week. However, they finished with a 9-2 non-conference record and are 3-4 against teams in the Big 12. They are a game over their opponent and tied with Utah, TCU, and UCF. They are four games behind the conference-leading, No. 7-ranked Houston.
BYU went on the road to Salt Lake City, Utah, and lost in an overtime thriller by one point to Utah. They gave up 26 points to Ezra Ausar while their leading scorer, Richie Saunders, had just 16 points. On Tuesday, they stayed on the road traveling to Boulder, Colorado, and beat Colorado by 16 points. Saunders dominated in that outing with a game-high 25 points.
