Horizon League play continues on Thursday night for Purdue Fort Wayne as the team hosts Cleveland State in men’s basketball action.

The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastadons host the Cleveland State Vikings on Thursday night at Memorial Coliseum for a Horizon League matchup. The Mastadons are currently in second place in the conference standings with a Horizon record of 8-3 and an overall record of 15-7. The team is perfect at home this year, but the true test will take place on Thursday night as the league-leading Vikings visit. On Saturday, the team traveled to take on IU Indianapolis, winning 91-80. Jalen Jackson had a dominant performance in the victory, scoring 38 points which is the most by any Horizon League player in a game this year. He also led on the boards along with Chandler Cuthrell as they each pulled down seven rebounds. The team finished the game shooting an impressive 56 percent from the field and 45 percent from long range.

The Vikings sit atop the Horizon League standings with a record of 10-1 in conference play so far and 16-6 overall. The team is on a 12 game win streak with the most recent being an 81-66 win over Green Bay in front of 1800 fans on Saturday. Five Vikings finished in double figures and were led offensively by Chase Robinson who came off the bench to score 17 points. Reece Robinson added 14 points to the scoreboard and earned a double-double by leading his team on the boards with 11 rebounds. Also finishing in double digits were Tevin Smith (15), Ebrima Dibba (14) and Tahj Staveskie (10). While the team shot well from the field at 49 percent and beyond the arc at 42 percent, the Vikings struggled from the line, going just 16-for-30.

Purdue Fort Wayne and Cleveland State have met 13 times in their history and the Vikings hold a strong 10-3 lead in the all-time series. Cleveland State has won four straight against the Mastadons with the last meeting resulting in a 75-72 victory on the road last season.
