Saint Joseph’s will host the College of Charleston on Tuesday night in college basketball as the teams prepare for their respective conference schedules.

The Saint Joseph’s Hawks will host the Charleston Cougars on Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup at Hagan Arena. The Cougars bring an overall record of 6-2 into Tuesday night’s game with their Coastal Athletic schedule slated to begin at the turn of the new year with a home game against Hampton.

The Cougars are currently on a two-game win streak after beating Tusculum last week in a big 94-71 home victory. Lazar Djokovic led all scorers with 17 points, but Justas Stonkus was right on his tail with 16 points after coming off the bench. Three other Cougars finished the game in double figures while AJ Smith led on the boards with a six-rebound performance. The team shot an impressive 51 percent from the field, but will need to work on long range shooting after going 6-for-22 from three-point distance.

The Hawks are off to a decent start this season and are currently 6-3 on the year with their most recent game being a big 82-68 win over Philadelphia foe La Salle in the Big 5 Classic Championship Game on Saturday. Erik Reynolds II led the Hawks offensively with a 24-point performance while Xzayvier Brown also made it into the 20-plus range with 21 on the night. Rasheer Fleming narrowly missed a double-double in the win with a team-high 10 rebounds and nine points.

Charleston and Saint Joseph’s have only met once before and it took place last season in South Carolina. The Hawks traveled for the game and earned an 89-82 win. Tune in Tuesday night to see if the Cougars can even the series out with a win on the road.
