Coppin State will travel to Durham, North Carolina, this weekend in a men’s college basketball battle between two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference teams. On Saturday, they will face off against North Carolina Central at the McDougald-McLendon Arena. The North Carolina Central Eagles are 10-14 overall this season heading into this weekend. After going 7-10 against non-conference teams, they are just 3-4 in their last seven games against conference teams in the MEAC. They are three games back from the conference leader.

They lost to Norfolk at the beginning of the month by just three points on the road. Despite the loss, Perry Smith Jr led the team with a game-high 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting and a team-high nine rebounds. Last weekend, they went on the road to Howard and lost by four points. In the 82-78 loss, Po’Boigh King led the team with 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

The Coppin State Eagles are 4-18 overall this season and have shrunken down to just 2-5 against teams in the MEAC. They are two games over MD Eastern, the winless and last-placed team in the conference. They are one game behind their opponent and four games behind the conference-leading Norfolk State.

After starting the month with a loss to Delaware State by 23 points, they bounced back two weeks ago and beat MD Eastern by five points. Toby Nnadozie led the team with 17 points on a game-high performance. They haven’t taken the court in 12 days, with that being their last game. Nnadozie leads the team in scoring this season at 12.1 points per game through 22 games.
