DePaul will travel to Lubbock, Texas on Wednesday night in men’s college basketball. In Lubbock the Blue Demons will face-off against Texas Tech at the United Supermarkets Arena in the Big 12-Big East Battle. The Red Raiders are 6-1 overall this season as the Big 12 side of this battle. They opened up the season with four straight home wins in Lubbock. They took down Bethune Cookman, Northwestern State, Wyoming, and Arkansas Pine-Bluff. They lost their first game against Saint Joseph’s by one point in the first round of the UKG Legends Classic.

In the third place game of that same tournament they bounced back, beating Syracuse, an ACC team, by five points. They took down Northern Colorado in their last game by 25 points at home. Sophomore forward JT Toppin leads the team in scoring this season with 18.6 points and 11.0 rebounds. He is also shooting 58 percent from the field. He is complemented by Darrion Williams, averaging 16.7 points and 4.7 assists per game.
The Blue Demons are undefeated this season with a perfect 7-0 record on the Big East side of this battle. All seven of their games came at home. They took down Southern Indiana, Prairie View, Mercer, and Duquesne before hosting the in-season event called the DePaul Classic.
In the classic, they played three games at home and won all three, beating Eastern Illinois by nine points, Northern Illinois by 46 points, and Valparaiso by 19 points. Isaiah Rivera leads the team in scoring this season still, averaging 14.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. He also is shooting 55 percent from the field.
