DePaul will look to earn its first conference win of the season on Saturday when the team visits Villanova in Philadelphia.

The Villanova Wildcats will welcome the DePaul Blue Demons to Finneran Pavilion on Saturday afternoon for a Big East battle. The Blue Demons are currently 9-5 overall with a conference record of 0-3 so far. The team’s last time on the court was on New Year’s Day and resulted in a tough 81-68 loss to No. 11 UConn at home. Conor Enright led the scoring efforts for the Blue Demons with 18 points while Jacob Meyer and NJ Benson joined him in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Benson led on the boards with a game-high 12 rebounds to earn a double-double in the loss. DePaul shot 39 percent from the field, but only went 3-for-12 from long range making it difficult to compete with the outside shooting from the Huskies who sunk 13 three-pointers.

The Wildcats also bring an overall record of 9-5 into Saturday’s game, but the team has gotten off to a strong start in conference play at 2-1 for a spot in fifth place in the Big East standings. On Wednesday, Villanova traveled to Indianapolis to play Butler, winning 73-65 on the road. After trailing by one at halftime, the Wildcats rallied to win the game by eight points behind a 28-point performance from Eric Dixon. Wooga Poplar assisted offensive play by adding on 18 points and earned a double-double by pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds. Enoch Boakye wasn’t far behind Poplar and finished the game with 14 rebounds.

DePaul and Villanova have met 25 times in their history, but the Blue Demons have only won one of those games which took place during the 2022-2023 season. The Wildcats have won four straight against the Blue Demons with the most recent being a narrow 58-57 win during the Big East tournament last year.
