CJ Gunn and DePaul will take the court in a Big East rivalry against Dante Maddox Jr and Xavier on Saturday.

DePaul will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, this weekend for a men’s college basketball battle between two Big East Conference teams. On Saturday, they will face off with Xavier at the Cintas Center. The Xavier Musketeers are 15-10 overall this season heading into this season. After finishing 8-3 against non-conference teams in the first two months of the season, they have since gone .500 in conference play at 7-7. They are one game behind Villanova and a half-game in front of Georgetown. They are also five games back from the conference-leading No. 9 St. John’s.

Last weekend, they went on the road to Philadelphia and lost to Villanova by 12 points. Despite the loss, Dante Maddox Jr. tied a game-high with 24 points on 7-of-10 shooting. On Wednesday, they went on the road and took down Providence by nine points. Maddox dropped 26 points on 7-of-11 shooting in 30 minutes off the bench. He shot 6-of-9 from behind the arc.

The DePaul Blue Demons are 11-24 overall this season. They also had a positive non-conference record at 9-2 in the first two months of the season. Since the start of Big East play, they have gone 2-12 against conference teams. They are just a half-game ahead of the last-placed team in the conference, Seton Hall. They are also five games back from their opponent.

They have played just one game in the last week, going on the road to take on the No. 18-ranked team in the country, Marquette. They ended up losing that game by 10 points, making it two straight losses heading into this game. CJ Gunn leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 12.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, shooting 42% from the field.
