Drexel will travel to West Long Branch, New Jersey, in the latter part of this week for a men’s college basketball showdown between two Coastal Athletic Association teams. On Thursday, they will match up against Monmouth at the OceanFirst Bank Center. The Drexel Dragons head into this game with a 12-9 record overall and a 4-4 record against conference teams in the CAA. They are tied with Delaware and one game behind Elon and Campbell. They are also three games behind the conference-leading William and Mary and Towson, who are tied at 7-1.

Drexel went 1-1 in the last week starting with a road loss to Northeastern by nine points last Thursday. Despite the loss, Yame Butler led the team with 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting. Over the weekend, Drexel went home and beat Delaware by 13 points in Philadelphia. Kobe MaGee led the team, dropping a game-high 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field.

The Monmouth Hawks are 5-16 overall this season heading into this week. However, three of their five wins have come against conference teams. They are 3-5 against CAA opponents tied with Northeastern and Hofstra and just one game behind their opponent. They are four games back from the conference leaders.

Last Thursday, they took the court against Elon on the road in North Carolina. They lost that game by 12 points, despite Abdi Bashir Jr dropping 22 points, albeit shot 23 times. They stayed on the road in Virginia and lost to William and Mary by five points over the weekend. Cornelius Robinson III led the game with 20 points in that loss.
