Nakyel Shelton and Eastern Illinois will take the court against Isaiah Rivera and DePaul in the DePaul Classic on Tuesday.

Eastern Illinois will travel to Chicago, Illinois, on Tuesday night at the beginning of the third week of men’s college basketball’s regular season. There, they will take on DePaul at Wintrust Arena in the DePaul Classic. The Blue Demons are undefeated this season at 4-0 through their first two weeks of play. All four games have been at home as they opened up against Southern Indiana. They won by just two points in overtime led by a 25-point performance from Isaiah Rivera. Their win later that week against Prairie View was more dominant as they won by 33 points led by 17 points from Rivera.

Early last week, they brought in Mercer to Wintrust Arena and won by 31 points with NJ Benson leading the team with 15 points and four rebounds in just 12 minutes off the bench. At the end of last week, they beat Duquesne by just under 30 points. Rivera dropped 18 points again in that win with three assists.

The Panthers will come into this tournament hosted by DePaul with just one win in four games in two weeks. They lost their season-opening game on the road against Illinois, 112-67. In the middle of that first week, they came home to play their season-opening game at Groniger Arena, beating Earlham by 36 points.

In their last two games, they went back on the road, losing to former No. 17 ranked Indiana, 90-55, and Northwestern in overtime, 67-58. Nakyel Shelton leads the team in scoring with 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game in his third season with the team. He is followed by Kooper Jacobi, who is averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.
