Andrew Cook and Eastern Washington will take the court against Trent McLaughlin and Northern Arizona on Saturday night in the first round.

No. 8-seeded Eastern Washington will travel to Boise, Idaho, on Saturday night for a late-night showdown in men’s college basketball with No. 6-seeded Northern Arizona in the first round of the Big Sky Championship. The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks finished their regular season with a 17-14 record overall but were just 8-10 against teams in the conference. They finished tied with Idaho but held the tiebreaker and were one game behind Montana State, who was 9-9 in conference play. They closed out the regular season with a 1-1 split in two games.

They lost by 10 points to Northern Colorado and closed out winning against Idaho State by three points. Carson Towt led the group with 24 points on a perfect 11-for-11 shooting from the field with a team-high 12 rebounds, including four on the offensive glass. Trent McLaughlin had 21 points and a team-high five assists as well.

The Eastern Washington Eagles are 10-21 overall this season and finished 6-12 in the conference, two games behind their opponent and one game ahead of Weber State. They closed out their season with two losses, which dropped them down in the standings to the No. 8 seed in the Big Sky.

Andrew Cook leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game on 55% shooting. Mason Williams follows him, averaging 13.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. Nic McClain leads the team, dishing out 3.9 assists per game while finishing as the third scorer on the team, averaging double figures at 10.8 points per game.
