The College of Charleston Cougars will welcome the Elon Phoenix to TD Arena on Saturday for a Colonial Athletic matchup. The team’s last game was played on Thursday night against Campbell and resulted in a tough 76-58 loss on the road. The Fighting Camels played strong defense, allowing just three players to finish in double figures with Sam Sherry leading with a 12-point performance. Nick Dorn and TJ Simpkins each added 11 points to the scoreboard in a loss that saw the Phoenix only shoot 36 percent from the field and 20 percent from three-point range. Matthew Van Komen led the team on the boards with 10 rebounds.

The Cougars are sitting in third place in the Colonial Athletic standings with a conference record of 8-3 and an overall record of 18-6. On Thursday night, the team hosted North Carolina A&T, pulling out a narrow 66-63 victory in front of 4600 fans. Ante Brzovic showed up and showed out, scoring a game-high 24 points to lead the Cougars’ offense in the win while Justas Stonkus also finished in double figures with 12 points. Brzovic also led on the boards with nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double on the night. The team performed well, shooting 45 percent from the field and 30 percent from long range.

Charleston and Elon have met a total of 35 times in their history. The Cougars hold a 26-9 lead in the series and have won the last six games with the most recent taking place two weeks ago in North Carolina which resulted in a 76-62 victory for Charleston.
