AAC play continues on Sunday for Florida Atlantic and East Carolina when the teams meet in Greenville.

The Florida Atlantic Owls will take a trip north on Sunday to take on the East Carolina Pirates in an AAC matchup at Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. The Owls are currently winless in conference play at 0-1, but they are right at .500 overall with a record of 7-7. The team has lost two games in a row with the most recent being a 90-62 defeat by No. 21 Memphis on Thursday night. Kaleb Glenn and Baba Miller were the only two Owls to score in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Glenn also led the team in rebounding, pulling down seven to help hold onto possession, but Memphis proved to be more than the Owls could handle and the team was forced to take the loss.

The Pirates have also lost two in a row and are in a similar boat in the AAC standings with a 0-1 record, however, the team is 8-6 overall so far. The team opened conference play against South Florida on New Year’s Eve and suffered a 75-69 loss on the road. Jordan Riley led all scorers with 20 points while CJ Walker finished closely behind with 16 points. RJ Felton rounded out the double digit scorers with 13 points and led on the boards with eight rebounds. The Bulls jumped out to an early lead and took a nine-point advantage into the locker room for halftime. Although the Pirates battled to get back in the game, outscoring the Bulls 44-41 in the second half, they were unable to erase the deficit from the first half.

The Owls and the Pirates have met five times in their history and Florida Atlantic currently holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series. The most recent game was played last season and went in the Owls’ favor with a 79-64 victory at home.
