Florida Atlantic looks to bounce back from a heartbreaking buzzer-beating loss when they tip off against Florida International on Wednesday.

Florida Atlantic tries to get back over .500 and end a three-game losing streak when they travel to take on their regional South Florida rival in Florida International. The Owls have yet to win a game on the road. Florida Atlantic’s last game was at home though and it lost in a disheartening way at the buzzer to FGCU by a 80-78 final last Saturday. Junior forward Baba Miller played really well despite the loss having one of the best games of his career by scoring 25 points and collecting 11 rebounds.

Miller only missed two shots from the field. Graduate guard KyKy Tandy also added 15 points including an electrifying game-tying three toward the end of the game. But unfortunately for the Owls, Florida Gulf Coast got the last laugh and shot. There were a lot of good takeaways even from the loss for Florida Atlantic including the Owls hitting a season-high 17 threes in the game. This is definitely a game against FIU where the Owls will be very competitive in getting their first road win of the season.

FIU is also coming off an incredibly close loss to Florida Gulf Coast but this came on Sun. Nov. 24 by a 60-59 final on the road. The Panthers tied the score with 26 seconds left in the game on two clutch free throws from Jonathan Aybar. The Panthers were able to erase a 12-point deficit at half time.

The Eagles hit one of two free throws in the next possession to go up one. Dashon Gittens had a chance at a game-winning three point shot but it hit the rim and just missed. Gittens hit a game-winner in the Panthers win against CSU Bakersfield but this time it just wasn’t meant to be. It was Florida International’s fourth game in a row having the final possession with the game on the line. FIU needs to get off to a quicker start to get back in the win column.
