New Mexico will host Fresno State on Monday night in men’s Mountain West basketball action.

In a Mountain West Conference meeting, the Fresno State Bulldogs travel to Albuquerque to take on the New Mexico Lobos on Monday night. The Lobos are currently 15-4 on the season with a 7-1 conference record, putting them in first place in the Mountain West standings. The team’s most recent game was played against Boise State and the Lobos won the game handily in an 84-65 victory in front of a home crowd. Nelly Joseph and Donovan Dent led the Lobos’ offense in the win, each scoring 16 points. Joseph was one rebound shy of a double-double, but Filip Borovicanin led on the boards with 10 rebounds and also narrowly missed a double-double by adding nine points to the scoreboard. On the season Dent is averaging 18.8 points per game.

The Bulldogs will look to pull off the upset on Monday and earn only their second conference win of the season as the team is currently 1-6 in Mountain West play and 5-13 overall. The team’s most recent game was played against last place Air Force and resulted in a 74-65 win on Friday night. The Bulldogs used a big first half to take a 41-24 lead into halftime and never looked back. Fresno State was led by Zaon Collins and Alex Crawford who scored 23 and 21 points, respectively. Elijah Price led the Bulldogs on the boards with eight rebounds and added eight points. On the season, Collins leads the team with an average of 13.6 points per game. 

The last meeting between the two programs took place on New Year’s Eve and the Lobos earned a 103-89 victory. New Mexico leads the all-time series 20-18 and the Lobos have won the last three meetings.
