    JaKobe Coles will meet Tanner Toolson as No. 2 seed Grand Canyon clashes with No. 1 seed Utah Valley in the championship game of the WAC.

    The No. 1-seeded Utah Valley will take on the No. 2-seeded Grand Canyon in the championship game in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in men’s college basketball at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday night. The No. 1-seeded Wolverines are 25-7 overall this season and finished regular-season conference play with a 15-1 record. Ironically, their only loss in the regular season to a conference team was Grand Canyon. They opened the tournament with a quarterfinal matchup against Utah Tech, a game that they won 74-57.

    Tanner Toolson led the team with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting, while Carter Welling pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. Moving on to the semifinals, they took on Seattle University and dominated them just as badly, 68-55. Toolson led the team once again with an 18-point game on 7-of-10 shooting. Trevan Leonhardt led the team with four assists in his 33 minutes.

    The No. 2-seeded Lopes are 25-7 overall and finished their regular season in conference play just two games behind Utah Valley at 13-3. Heading into the conference tournament, they took on UT Arlington in the quarterfinal round, beating them by 23 points, 98-75. JaKobe Coles led the team with 24 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

    Survive and advance, they moved on to play CA Baptist in the semifinal round with a nine-point win, 75-66, led by a 22-point performance from Coles on 7-of-13 shooting. Tyon Grant-Foster finished with 18 points, three rebounds, and two assists, shooting 7-for-12 in that win. Ray Harrison was the only other player in double figures with 14 points.
