They will face-off against Rutgers at Jersey Mike’s Arena. The Illinois Fighting Illini are 15-7 overall this season and 7-5 against teams in the Big Ten. They are a half game behind No. 18 Maryland, UCLA, and No. 21 Wisconsin. They are also three games behind No. 9-ranked Michigan State, who is the conference leader.

They lost on the road to end January against Nebraska by six points in overtime. Kasparas Jakucionis finished the game with 18 points on 6-of-15 shooting and a team-high 13 rebounds. They came back home to Champaign and beat Ohio State by eight points over the weekend. Will Riley led the team with 24 points on 7-of-9 shooting.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are 11-11 overall this season, holding on to that .500 record. However, they have fallen to just 4-7 against teams in the conference, tied with Nebraska. They are a half-game behind Iowa and 5.5 games back from the conference leader. They are also 2.5 games back from their opponent.

They went on the road and beat Northwestern by seven points, 79-72, to end January. Ace Bailey dropped 37 points on 13-of-20 shooting in the win. However, they welcomed in Michigan and lost by three points, 66-63. Jamichael Davis dropped a game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Bailey scored 10 points and had a team-high six rebounds and three assists in the loss.
