Big Ten play continues on Wednesday night with a game between Indiana and Northwestern in college basketball action.
In a Big Ten college basketball battle on Wednesday, the Indiana Hoosiers travel to take on the Northwestern Wildcats at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The two programs have been playing since 1908, in which Northwestern won the first meeting 21-18. The Wildcats bring an overall record of 11-7 and a Big Ten record of 2-5 into Wednesday night. The last game for the Wildcats was played against No. 20 Michigan and resulted in a tough 80-76 defeat. In the loss, Brooks Barnhizer led the Wildcats with 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Nick Martinelli added an additional 20 points and Jalen Leach was right behind with 19 points. Matthew Nicholson led the Wildcats with 16 rebounds.

The Hoosiers are 14-5 overall with a record of 5-3 in conference play, putting them in fifth place in the Big Ten standings. The team’s most recent game was played against Ohio State and the Hoosiers were able to pull off a narrow 77-76 victory in overtime. Indiana was down 35-29 at halftime, but the Hoosiers rallied in the second half which led to the eventual win behind Luke Goode’s 23 points. Oumar Ballo earned a double-double by adding 21 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. Kanaan Carlyle came off the bench to score 13 points, as well. On the season, Ballo leads the Hoosiers with an average of 14.5 points per game and Malik Reneau is close behind with an average of 14.1 points per game.
Indiana leads the all-time series 119-57 with the last meeting being a 76-72 victory for Northwestern last year during conference play.
