The Quinnipiac Bobcats take on the Iona Gaels on Friday night in the first semifinal fo the MAAC Tournament. The Bobcats finished the regular season at 15-5 in conference play which was good enough to win the the league crown. They finished one game up on Merrimack and two games up on Marist for the title. Despite that they come into Friday just 2-2 over their last four games. They did win both meetings with the Gaels this season. They won by one back in early January and then won again by five in the middle of February. Both games were close and the Bobcats will be looking to win for a third time on Friday and keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive. Amarri Monroe has been the leader for the Bobcats this season as he is scoring 17.8 points and grabbing 9.2 rebounds per game, both team highs. Paul Otieno, Jaden Zimmerman and Khaden Bennett are also averaging in double figures for the Bobcats.

The Gaels will have to find a way to slow them down if they want to break through and finally beat the Bobcats this season. The Gaels come into Friday on a four-game winning streak and it has improved their record to 16-16 on the season.

They earned a chance at the Bobcats by beating Manhattan 77-65 on Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Dejour Reeves exploded for 21 points in the second half and scored a game-high 28 points to help lead the Gaels to the win on Thursday. He is the team’s top scorer at 17.1 points per game, while Adam Nije is the only other player averaging in double figures at 12.2 per game.
