Dola Adebayo and No. 6 seed Mount St. Mary’s will take on Dejour Reaves and No. 4 seed Iona on Saturday night in the MAAC championship game.
The No. 4-seeded Iona will take on the No. 6-seeded Mount St. Mary’s in the championship game in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament in men’s college basketball at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Saturday evening. The No. 4-seeded Gaels are 17-16 overall this season and finished their regular season 12-8 against teams in the MAAC. They finished tied with two other teams, but due to tiebreaker rules, they secured the highest seed of the three. They started their unlikely tournament run in the quarterfinals against Manhattan, winning by 12 points.

Dejour Reaves led the team, dropping 28 points on 11-of-20 shooting in that win, while Adam Njie had 16 points, five rebounds, and nine assists. Moving on to the semifinals, they took on the conference’s No. 1 seed in Quinnipiac and won by eight points. Reaves again led the team with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting as Yaphet Moundi pulled down 11 rebounds with 17 points.
The No. 6-seeded Mountaineers are 21-12 overall this season, heading into this championship game with an opportunity to punch their ticket to March Madness. They were also one of the three teams ending with a 12-8 record in the conference and got the worst of the three seeds. They opened up the MAAC Tournament against Marist in the quarterfinals.
In the 62-58 win, Dola Adebayo scored 19 points to lead the team, despite shooting just 4-of-13 from the field. He also had 11 rebounds in the team’s only double-double. In the semifinals, they matched up with Merrimack, the conference’s No. 2 seed, and pulled off a major upset, winning by two points. Arlandus Keyes led the team with just 13 points in 29 minutes off the bench.
