Romelle Mansel and Jackson State will take the court against Ryan Conwell and Xavier on Tuesday night.

Jackson State will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, on Tuesday night to begin the second week of men’s college basketball. There, it will take on Xavier at the Cintas Center. The Musketeers are 2-0 through two games in the first week of the regular season. They played on Monday night at the Cintas Center and took down Texas Souther by just nine points, 78-69. Ryan Conwell, the Indiana State transfer, led the team with 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor and three rebounds.

Senior forward Zach Freemantle, the long-time Musky, had a double-double in the win, with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Xavier went on to take on IU Indianapolis by 14 points this weekend. Conwell, once again, led the team with 19 points and four assists. Dayvion McKnight had 17 points, shooting perfectly from three and the floor, going 4-for-4 and 6-for-6 respectively. He also had five assists and two rebounds in the win.

The Tigers, on the other side, head into this week without a win through two games in the first week. They dropped a season-opening game to the former No. 4 ranked team in the country, Houston, by 37 points. Jalen Tatum, the junior guard in his first season with Jackson State, led the team with 14 points and three assists.

Jackson State stayed on the road this weekend and took on High Point in North Carolina. It would lose that game as well by nine points, 80-71. Romelle Mansel led the team with 22 points in the game along with four rebounds and three assists. Jayme Mitchell Jr. also had 18 points and five rebounds off the bench.
