    CUSA’s No. 5 seed Jacksonville State will open up NIT play against the ACC’s No. 4 seed Georgia Tech on Tuesday night.

    No. 4-seeded Georgia Tech will open the NIT in men’s college basketball against No. 5-seeded Jacksonville State in a regional, first round game at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta on Tuesday night. The No. 4-seeded Yellow Jackets are coming off of a 17-16 season overall, finishing with a 10-10 record against teams in the ACC. They opened the conference tournament in the second round with a matchup against Virginia that they were able to win 66-60.

    Duncan Powell led the team with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while both Naithan George and Baye Ndongo had double-doubles. George finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds with eight assists, while Ndongo had 16 points and 10 rebounds. They would go on to lose their quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 ranked Duke before missing out on the NCAA Tournament.

    The No. 5-seeded Gamecocks finished their season with a 22-12 overall record and were 14-7 against teams in Conference USA. They opened their conference tournament in the quarterfinal, taking down Florida International by nine points. They moved on to the semifinals, where they beat Middle Tennessee State by two points to advance to the championship.

    With the chance at an NCAA Tournament berth, they lost the final game to Liberty by 12 points. Despite the loss, Jaron Pierre Jr. had 19 points on 6-of-17 shooting and a team-high four assists. Marcellus Brigham Jr. followed him with 12 points and four rebounds, while Quel’ron House finished with 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
