However, with four more ranked opponents on the schedule this month and three of them being in the AP Top 10, dropping a tough game to an unranked Georgia on the road was not in the cards for Mark Pope. As a team, they shot 37% from the field and 24% from three-point range in the 13-point loss to the Bulldogs. Otega Oweh leads Kentucky in scoring this season, averaging 15.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs (14-1, 2-0) opened their conference schedule with two unranked wins. While the wins were unranked, it will help them in the long run to win games that they should have won. Their only loss this season came to Butler by 10 points at the end of November in the Arizona Tip-Off.

They beat South Carolina first at home by 35 points, led by a 21-point performance from Josh Hubbard. Next, they went on the road and took down Vanderbilt by 12 points in Nashville. RJ Melendez led Mississippi State in that win with 19 points and seven rebounds. Hubbard leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 17.1 points in all 15 games.
