Loyola Chicago looks for its first-ever win against A-10 rival Davidson when they meet on Tuesday night in college basketball.

Loyola Chicago (16-9), at 7-5 in the Atlantic 10 Conference race, is in position to earn a bye to the quarterfinals of next month’s conference tournament but needs to remain in the top four of the standings to do so. On Tuesday night, the Ramblers face Davidson (15-10) at Belk Arena. The Wildcats are 5-7 in conference play and are trying to play their way to at least a first round bye. Loyola’s last NCAA tournament bid was in 2022 and it lost in the first round of the NIT last spring. Davidson also made its last March Madness appearance in 2022.

An 11-0 run in the late stages of the second half spurred the Ramblers to a 78-69 victory over visiting Saint Louis on Friday night. Jayden Dawson had 26 points, Sheldon Edwards Jr. tossed in 17 and Miles Rubin finished with 10 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four blocked shots. Dawson gets 13.0 points per game, with Des Watson scoring 12.7 points a night and Rubin averaging 8.6 points, 5.4 boards and 2.3 blocks.

The Wildcats battled back to tie the game four times in the second half but never got over the hump in a 74-67 loss to visiting George Washington on Saturday. Bobby Durkin led the offense with 21 points and Zach Laput knocked down 17. Reed Bailey is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 19.9 points and 6.3 boards, while Durkin puts in 15.0 points per game.

This is just the second time Loyola Chicago and Davidson have met since the Ramblers joined the A-10 in 2022, with the Wildcats winning all three of their previous meetings. Drew Valentine is 74-48 in his fourth season at Loyola, while Matt McKillop has a 46-43 mark in his third season since succeeding his father, Bob, at Davidson.
