West Coast Conference play continues on Tuesday night with a game between Loyola Marymount and St. Mary’s in men’s basketball action.

The Loyola Marymount Lions will travel to Moraga, California on Tuesday night for a West Coast Conference matchup with the St. Mary’s Gaels. On Saturday, the team took on No. 19 Gonzaga at home, falling in a tough 96-68 defeat. Will Johnston led the team in scoring with 18 points, followed closely by Jevon Porter who finished the game with 17 points. Porter also led the team in rebounding, pulling down eight to narrowly miss out on a double-double in the loss.

The Gaels have gotten off to a strong start in conference play and are currently in second place in the West Coast standings with a record of 3-0 in WCC play and 13-3 overall. The team has now won three games straight with the most recent being an 81-58 win over Portland on Saturday in Oregon. Augustas Marciulionis led all scorers with 20 points while Jordan Ross and Mikey Lewis joined him in double figures, scoring 14 and 12 points, respectively. Mitchell Saxen led on the boards with 10 rebounds and narrowly missed out on a double-double, finishing the game with nine points.

Loyola Marymount and St. Mary’s have met a total of 36 times in their history and the Gaels lead the all-time series 34-2. The teams met twice last season and both games were won by St. Mary’s, although they were each decided by five points or less.
