UMass and VCU will battle it out on Wednesday night as the regular season in college basketball begins to wind down.

The VCU Rams will host the UMass Minutemen on Wednesday night in college basketball at the Siegel Center as the teams square-off in Atlantic 10 play. The Minutemen are currently in ninth place in the A-10 standings with a conference record of 6-7 and an overall record of 11-15. The team is on a two-game losing streak with the most recent being a 73-59 loss to St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. Tarique Foster led the UMass offense with 14 points and Rahsool Diggins finished right behind with 13 points. Daniel Rivera rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 points and also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds. The Minutemen shot 35 percent from the field, but struggled from distance, going just 3-for-17 which made it difficult for the Bonnies to stay within reach.

The Rams bring a four-game win streak into Wednesday night’s game with the most recent being an 80-72 victory over George Washington a week ago to bring the team’s overall record to 20-5 and its conference record to 10-2. Jack Clark paced four to double digit finishes with his 18-point performance and Zeb Jackson followed closely behind with 15 points. Clark was just one rebound shy of a double-double, as he pulled down a team-high of nine in a win that moved the team into second place in the conference standings. The Rams shot an impressive 51 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range.

VCU and UMass have met a total of 14 times and the Rams currently hold a 10-4 lead in the series. The teams last meeting took place last season in the conference tournament and VCU earned a 73-59 victory to advance in the tournament.
