Milwaukee heads to Youngstown State for a crucial Horizon League battle on Friday night

Youngstown State (18-10) has won four straight games and enters play on Friday tied with Robert Morris a half-game behind Horizon League-leading Cleveland State. On Friday night, the Penguins welcome Milwaukee (18-9) to the Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio, with the Panthers just a game out of first place. Youngstown State is 12-5 in league play, with Milwaukee at 11-5. With two weeks remaining in the regular season, five teams are within a game-and-a-half of first place. The Panthers won the first meeting between the teams 79-64 in Milwaukee on Jan. 17.

The Penguins come off a 68-60 win at Cleveland State on Sunday afternoon, closing the game on a 6-0 run after the Vikings closed the gap to two points with 2:57 remaining. Nico Galette scored 19 points in the victory, with Ty Harper and Jason Nelson dropping in 11 apiece. EJ Farmer puts in 15.1 points per game while Galette averages 12.4 points and 7.0 rebounds.

Milwaukee picked up its second straight win, polishing off visiting Northern Kentucky 92-70 on Sunday afternoon. Jamichael Stillwell and Erik Pratt knocked down 15 points apiece, with Stillwell also grabbing 13 rebounds. Themus Fulks averages 14.6 points and 5.7 assists while Stillwell books 13.4 points and 10.8 boards per game.

The Panthers are 31-21 in the all-time series and snapped a three-game losing streak to Youngstown State with their win last month. Ethan Faulkner is in his first season coaching the Penguins, who have not made the NCAA tournament since moving up to Division I in 1981. Bart Lundy has a 60-36 mark in his third season at Milwaukee, which last played in the Big Dance in 2014.
