No. 10-seeded Mississippi State will take on No. 7-seeded Missouri in a second round matchup in the Southeastern Conference Tournament at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 21-11 overall record and an SEC record of just 8-10, tied with Arkansas, Georgia, and Vanderbilt. Because of the tiebreaker in the conference, they ended with the second of the four tied seeds, with Arkansas getting the first. They opened the tournament in the first round against LSU.

They dominated that game and left no doubt to spectators. They won 91-62 on the back of a 26-point game from Josh Hubbard, the team’s leading scorer. He was the only player on the team with double figures, followed by Shawn Jones Jr., who came off the bench and had nine points in 22 minutes. Hubbard will become a point of emphasis for Missouri here.

The Missouri Tigers finished their season with 21-10 overall this season and ended 10-8 against teams in the SEC, arguably the hardest conference in the country. They ended tied with Kentucky and Ole Miss in conference play, but based on the SEC’s tiebreakers, they finished in the middle of the three of them.

They were reeling at the end of the season, losing three games to close out the regular season against Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, and Kentucky, falling in the conference. Mark Mitchell, the former Blue Devil, is averaging 14.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. He is paired with backcourt mate Caleb Grill, who is averaging 14.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
