No. 6 seed UIC looks for its 3rd win of the season against No. 11 Valparaiso in the MVC tournament opening round.

UIC (17-13) finished 10-10 in Missouri Valley Conference play, tying with Illinois State for fifth place but losing the tiebreaker, earning the No. 6 seed for the conference tournament, known as Arch Madness. The Flames take on 11th-seeded Valparaiso (13-18) in an opening-round game on Thursday night at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. The Beacons were 6-14 in conference play and enter the tournament with consecutive losses. Valpo went to the Big Dance in 2015 and lost in the first round of the 2017 NIT. The winner advances to face No. 3 seed Northern Iowa on Friday.
