Austin Benigni and No. 4 seed Navy will take on Greg Jones and No. 1 seed American in the Patriot League Championship final on Wednesday night.

No. 4-seeded Navy will take on No. 1-seeded American in the championship game of the Patriot League Championship tournament on Wednesday night at Bender Arena in Washington, D.C. The No. 1-seeded American Eagles finished their season 21-12 overall and went 13-5 against teams in the conference. They ended the season tied with Bucknell and three games above the No. 3 seed. They opened up the tournament in the quarterfinals with a matchup against Lafayette and won that game 71-69.

Greg Jones led the team with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting and five rebounds in the win. Lincoln Ball had 13 points with six rebounds and four assists as well. In the semifinals, they matched up with Colgate and won by 10 points in Washington. Elijah Stephens tied a game-high with 16 points to lead American with four assists as well.

The Navy Midshipmen finished 15-18 overall this season and will see a tough matchup despite already pulling off a couple of upsets. However, despite finishing under the .500 mark overall, they were 10-8 against teams in the Patriot League, tied with Colgate, Army, and Boston University. They opened up with Boston University in the quarterfinals and won by eight points.

CAustin Benigni dropped a team and game-high 30 points in the win with a team-high six assists to pair. Moving on to the semifinals, they took on Bucknell, the conference’s No. 2 seed, and won in an upset by six points. Benigni led the team and game again with 24 points, despite shooting just 2-for-12 from the floor. He did shoot 20-for-22 from the free throw line though.
