    A pair of unseeded teams square-off Wednesday for a trip to the NIT Final Four, as Kent State visits Loyola Chicago.

    Kent State (24-11) and Loyola Chicago (24-11) meet on Wednesday night at Gentile Arena in Chicago in an NIT quarterfinal game, with the winner earning a trip to the NIT Final Four in Indianapolis next week. Both the Golden Flashes and Ramblers won a pair of road games to get to the quarterfinals, including narrow victories on Sunday over the top two seeds in the San Francisco region. Kent State has already matched its best NIT run, having previously reached the quarterfinals in 2000 and 2011. Loyola Chicago lost championship games in both the 1939 and 1949 NITs and claimed third place in 1962.

    Jayden Dawson laid in the go-ahead bucket with 56 seconds left and the Ramblers got two stops in the final minute to beat top-seeded San Francisco 77-76 on Sunday. Dawson went off for a career-high 35 points, while Des Watson scored 13 and Miles Rubin blocked three shots. Dawson averages a team-best 13.8 points per game, Watson scores 13.2 points a night and Rubin averages 9.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.3 blocks.

    The Golden Flashes had an 11-point second-half lead trimmed to one but held off No. 2 seed Stanford for a 77-75 win on Sunday. Jalen Sullinger paced the attack with a career-high 34 points, VonCameron Davis added 12 points and Delrecco Gillespie finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Sullinger leads the club at 15.8 points per game, Davis gets 14.5 points per outing and Gillespie averages 8.1 points and 7.9 boards.

    Loyola Chicago leads the all-time series 5-2 and has won the last two meetings, most recently a 75-60 victory in Savannah, Georgia in November 2017.
