RJ Davis and No. 9 North Carolina will take the court against Hunter Dickinson and No. 1 Kansas on Friday night.

The No. 9 ranked team in the nation, North Carolina, will head on the road at the end of the first week of men’s college basketball to take on the No. 1 ranked team in the country, Kansas, at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kansas, on Friday night. The Tar Heels got everything they could handle in their first game of the season on Monday, opening night, against Elon at home in Chapel Hill. They ended up winning the game 90-76 after leading at the halftime break by 12 points. However, there was a stretch of time in the second half of the game where Elon came back, tied it up, and even took the lead with less than 10 minutes remaining. RJ Davis, the former ACC Player of the Year, came back and sparked a 16-2 run and ended up winning the game. He finished with a team-high 24 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Elliot Cadeau scored 17 points with eight assists, while Jae’Lyn Withers put up the team’s only double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The top-ranked team in the nation also played on opening night at home, taking on Howard. They dominated the game from start to finish, unlike UNC. They were up 27 at the halftime break and ended up winning by 30 points. Hunter Dickinson led the way for Kansas with 16 points and six rebounds shooting 5-for-8 from the floor.

Flory Bidunga, a true freshman, came off the bench and played just 17 minutes but made the most of those with 13 points and eight rebounds on perfect shooting from the big man. Transfer Rylan Griffen had just five points, shooting 1-for-5 from the court and just 1-for-4 from behind the arc. Senior Zeke Mayo, a former San Deigo State standout, also had 19 points off the bench.
