Big Ten basketball play continues on Thursday with a game between Northwestern and Ohio State as the teams look to move up.

The Northwestern Wildcats will travel to Columbus on Thursday for a Big Ten battle against the Ohio State Buckeyes as the teams look to improve their standing in the conference table. The Wildcats are just out of last place with a conference record of 4-11 and an overall record of 13-13. The team has lost three games in a row with the most recent being a tough 68-64 loss at home against Nebraska. Against the Cornhuskers, Nick Martinella dna TY Berry led the offense scoring 23 points each. Martinelli also snagged nine rebounds to narrowly miss a double-double in the loss. Matthew Nicholson led the team’s rebounding efforts with 12 on the night. The Wildcats struggled to find a rhythm offensively and finished the game shooting just 36 percent from the field and 35 percent from long range.

The Buckeyes come into their home game with an overall record of 15-11 and a conference record of 7-8 which puts them in 10th place in the Big Ten standings. The team’s last time on the court was on Sunday and resulted in a close 86-83 defeat against conference-leading No. 20 Michigan.

Devin Royal led all scorers with 26 points while Bruce Thornton and John Mobley Jr. added 17 and 16 points, respectively. Sean Stewart pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with six points. The team shot 45 percent from the field and 36 percent from long range. The Buckeyes struggled from the line, going 18-for-27 which proved to be crucial misses in the three-point loss.

The Buckeyes and Wildcats have met a total of 35 times in their history and the Buckeyes hold a big 29-6 advantage in the all-time series. The Wildcats, however, have won the last two meetings between the teams with the most recent being an 83-58 win last season.
