On Saturday afternoon, Georgetown will welcome Notre Dame to Capital One Arena as the teams meet in a highly anticipated non-conference matchup. Both teams come into Saturday’s contest with an undefeated record of 2-0, but neither team has truly been tested just yet. The Fighting Irish opened the season with a game against Stonehill which resulted in a big 89-60 win before beating Buffalo 86-77 on Monday. Tae Davis had a monster performance for Notre Dame, leading all scorers with 27 points to pace three other players to double-digit finishes. Braeden Shrewsberry and Markus Burton each put up 19 points while Kebba Nije added 12 points to the scoreboard. Burton narrowly missed a double-double in the win with a team-high nine rebounds, all of which were defensive.

The Hoyas have found early success so far, beating Lehigh 85-77 in the season-opener before knocking off Fairfield in a 69-57 victory at home on Saturday. Jayden Epps has proven to be a great addition to the roster for Georgetown as he finished the game against Fairfield with 12 points. The offense was led by Thomas Sorber, however, who scored a game-high 25 points and also pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Hoyas on the boards.

While the team turned in decent numbers shooting, it is an area that the team will need to improve upon when it takes on the bigger competition in Big East play later in the season. The Hoyas shot 47.4% from the field and 30% from beyond the arc while turning in a 75% performance from the line.

Georgetown and Notre Dame have met 30 times in their history and the Hoyas hold a 17-13 edge in the all-time series.
