Middle Tennessee comes off its first loss as it takes on Ohio to open the Myrtle Beach Invitational on Thursday in college basketball.

Middle Tennessee (3-1) comes off a homecourt thumping on Saturday as it heads to The HTC Center for the opening round of the Myrtle Beach Invitational on Thursday afternoon. The Blue Raiders take on Ohio (1-3), who comes in with two straight losses. Middle Tennessee’s last NCAA tournament appearances came in 2016 and 2017 and it most recently played in the 2022 CBI. Coach Nick McDevitt is in his seventh season and is 86-107, including 14-19 a season ago. The Bobcats were in the 2021 edition of March Madness and played in the 2022 CBI as well. Jeff Boals came to Ohio in 2019 and is 99-63 in his sixth season. The Bobcats were 20-13 a season ago.

The Blue Raiders’ unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday in an 88-67 loss to visiting Murray State. Kamari Lands led the team with 19 points and Jlynn Counter added 15 in the defeat. Jestin Porter scored 14.8 points per game while Essam Mostafa averages 12.3 points and 8.3 rebounds.

Ohio was manhandled in the second half of a 94-70 loss at Memphis on Friday night. Ajay Sheldon came off the bench for 20 points while AJ Brown tossed in 19. Brown nets 14.0 points per game, Shereef Mitchell puts up 13.0 points a night and AJ Clayton averages 11.5 points and 4.8 rebounds.

The Bobcats are 3-0 against Middle Tennessee all-time, with the last meeting coming on Nov. 24, 2019, in the seventh-place game at Myrtle Beach, with Ohio grabbing a 75-63 victory.
