The Iowa State Cyclones welcome the Omaha Mavericks to town as they try and extend their five-game winning streak. The Cyclones lost their only game of the year back on November 25th to No. 4 Auburn, but have been great since. They won two games in the Maui Invitational, then came home to knock off No. 5 Marquette 81-70. They continued their dominance in a win over Jackson State and then came back from a seven-point deficit to rival Iowa on Thursday night to move to 8-1 on the season. The great start to the year has helped them move all the way up to No. 3 in the latest AP Poll. They have just two non-conference games remaining before they open up their Big 12 schedule with a road game against Colorado. The Cyclones have been led by Curtis Jones who is averaging a team-best 17.0 points per game. Keshon Gilbert has been just as good and is second in scoring at 16.4 ppg. Joshua Jefferson is the team’s top rebounder at 8.0 boards per game while also scoring 11.3 ppg.

The Mavericks will have their hands full with the Cyclones as they look to come to Ames and pick up a huge upset. The Mavericks are just 4-7 on the season, but are coming off a 70-60 win over Sacramento State on the road on Saturday.
The win was just their second in the last nine games and it snapped a two-game losing streak. The Mavericks have played just one major conference opponent this year and that was a close loss to Minnesota. They lost by just four points to the Golden Gophers.
They have been led by Marquell Sutton who is leading the team in both scoring and rebounding. He is averaging 17.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
