Oregon (13-2) and Ohio State (10-5) come off victories as they meet for the first time as Big Ten Conference rivals on Thursday night at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The Ducks and Buckeyes are each 2-2 in Big Ten play and come off victories their last time out. Oregon is 2-0 in true road games so far this season while Ohio State is 7-2 at home. The Ducks reached the second round of the NCAA tournament last spring while the Buckeyes last participated in March Madness in 2022.

Keeshawn Bathelemy knocked down a 3-pointer with 2:16 left to give Oregon the lead for good in its 83-79 win over visiting Maryland on Sunday. Jackson Shelstad led the offense with 23 points while Nate Bittle added 16. Bittle averages 13.4 points and 8.1 rebounds and Shelstad gets 11.5 points per game.

Ohio State never trailed in the second overtime on Monday in its 89-88 victory at Minnesota. John Mobley extended the game with two free throws with four seconds left in the first overtime after Devin Royal’s dunk with five seconds left in regulation kept the Buckeyes alive. Royal finished with 19 points and Bruce Thornton had 18. Thornton scores 16.9 points per game while Royal averages 14.6 points and 7.3 boards.

The Buckeyes are 2-1 all-time against the Ducks, with the last meeting coming on Dec. 29, 1992, in Columbus. Oregon’s lone win was a 46-33 triumph in the first NCAA tournament championship game on March 27, 1939. Ducks coach Dana Altman is 358-154 in his 15th season while Jon Diebler is in his first full campaign at Ohio State and is 18-8 after coaching the final 11 games of last season in an interim role.
