The Penn State Nittany Lions will welcome the newcomer No. 15 Oregon Ducks to the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday afternoon for a Big Ten matchup. The Nittany Lions come into Sunday’s home game with a spot in 11th place in the Big Ten standings with a conference record of 2-3 and an overall record of 12-4. The team has a tough couple games ahead of them with the Ducks on Sunday and the No. 16 Michigan State Spartans on Wednesday night. The Nittany Lions have dropped their last two games with the most recent being a 91-52 loss to No. 13 Illinois on Wednesday. The Fighting Illini shut down the Penn State offense and held the team’s leading scorer, Ace Baldwin Jr., to zero points. Scoring was led by Nick Kern who only had 13 on the day.

The Ducks are sitting in fifth place in the Big Ten standings with a conference record of 3-2 and an overall record of 14-2. The team’s two losses this season came against UCLA in a narrow 73-71 defeat and Illinois in a big 109-77 defeat. The team bounced back from the loss against the Illini to win its next two games with the last time out resulting in a narrow 73-71 victory over Ohio State on Thursday.

Jackson Shelstad and Nate Bittle combined for 45 points in the win with Shalstad leading with 24. Bittle led on the boards with eight rebounds to just miss out on a double-double against the Buckeyes. Bittle leads the team in scoring this season with an average of 13.9 points per game, but Shelstad isn’t far behind, averaging 12.3 points per game.

Sunday’s game will mark the first time that Penn State and Oregon have ever met in their history as the Ducks just joined the Big Ten this season.
