Saint Mary’s goes for its seventh straight win on Saturday night when it hosts Oregon State

The Saint Mary’s Gaels hit the court red-hot on Saturday night when they take on the Oregon State Beavers. The Gaels come into Saturday on a six-game winning streak and they have won 16 of their last 17 games. It has been an impressive run for the Gaels that has pushed their record to 26-4 overall and 16-1 in the WCC. They have already clinched a regular season title, but are wanting to stay hot and earn a season sweep of the Beavers. They went to Oregon State back on Feb. 8 and won easily 63-49. They held the Beavers to just 19 first half points and then cruised in the second half. Augustas Marciulionis led the way with 18 points to lead all scorers in that game. He is leading the team in scoring at 14.0 points per game. Paulius Murauskas is right behind him at 13.0 points per game and is also the team’s leading rebounder at 8.2 per game. Mitchell Saxen is also averaging in double figures at 10.3 points per game.

The Beavers are going to have to find a way to slow down the trio if they want any shot at picking up the huge road upset.

The Beavers have played well this year as they come into Saturday 20-10 overall and 10-7 in the WCC, but they need a big resume boosting win on Saturday.

They aren’t on many experts bubble list, but with a win on Saturday and a run in the conference tournament they may have a shot.

It isn’t going to be easy against a streaking Gaels team, though. They are going to need a good game from their top scorer and rebounder Michael Rataj.

Rataj is scoring 17.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game to lead the team. Para Fallah and Nate Kingz are also averaging in double figures at 12.7 and 11.6 points per game respectively.
