Marquette comes into the week sitting in third place in the Big East standings. The Golden Eagles are 1.5 games up on fifth place Xavier, with UConn in between. The top five teams in the Big East get a first round bye in the conference tournament.

Marquette comes in trying to bounce back from a loss over the weekend. The Golden Eagles were on the road and lost to Villanova 81-66. Prior to that, they’d won two games in a row.

Providence is also coming off of a loss. The Friars were off over the weekend, but in their last game on Monday they fell 93-72 at Georgetown.

This will be the second matchup of the year between Marquette and Providence. They first played back on New Year’s Eve in Providence. The Golden Eagles went into the AMP and earned a convincing 78-50 win. It was a dominant defensive performance, with Marquette limiting Providence to shooting just 17-of-50 from the floor while forcing 22 turnovers.
