The Xavier Musketeers return home on Saturday to close out their regular season against the Providence Friars. The Musketeers come into Saturday red-hot as they have reeled off six striaght wins and it has pushed their record to 20-10 overall and 12-7 in the Big East. The winning steak has come just at the right time for the Musketeers as they try and sneak into the NCAA Tournament. They are right on the fringe of making into the tournament and they need to get a win on Saturday to keep those hopes alsive. This is the second time these two teams have met as the Musketeers won the first meeting back on Feb. 12. That win was the first of their current winning streak. Dante Maddox Jr. had a huge game in that win as he scored season-high 26 points. Maddox Jr. is averaging 7.7 points per game, but has scored over 20 three times this season. Zach Freemantle is the team’s top scorer at 17.1 points per game, while also grabbing a team-high 7.1 rebounds per game.

The Friars come into Saturday on a four-game losing streak and they have dropped eight of their last nine games. The slump has dropped them to 12-18 overall and 6-13 in the Big East. It has not been a great stretch for the Friars, but they are still looking to pick up the big upset on Saturday afternoon.

The Friars have struggled to score at times this season as they are averaging just 71.5 points per game as a team. Jayden Pierre and Bensley Joseph are tied for the team lead in scoring at 12.6 points per game.
