St. Francis will take a trip to College Park on Tuesday for a non-conference game against Maryland in men’s basketball action.

The Saint Francis Red Flash will hit the road on Tuesday to take on the Maryland Terrapins in a non-conference contest before the teams get into the thick of their respective conference schedules. Saint Francis brings a record of 4-7 into Tuesday night’s contest and will look to improve on that with an upset against a strong Big Ten team. The team’s last time out resulted in a close 69-66 loss to Niagara on Saturday to drop the Red Flash to 1-6 on the road.

In the loss, Miles Webb led the offense with 17 points while Juan Cranford Jr. and Jeremy Clayville joined him in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Webb also led on the boards with 10 rebounds for a double-double in the loss. The team shot 46 percent from the field, 40 percent from three-point range and 50 percent from the line.

The Terps have gotten off to a strong start this season and bring an overall record of 8-2 into Tuesday’s game with a Big Ten record of 1-1 so far. Both of the team’s losses came against ranked opponents, losing to then-No. 15 Marquette in a close 78-74 loss and No. 8 Purdue in an 83-78 loss the last time out.

Against the Boilermakers, Derik Queen led all scorers with a 26-point performance and also led both sides on the boards with 12 rebounds for a double-double. Ja’Kobi Gillespie also played strong offensively, adding 18 points to the scoreboard in the win. Rodney Rice and Selton Miguel rounded out the double digit scorers with 13 points each to help the team shoot 45 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line. From long range, the Terps recorded a 42 percent performance.

Saint Francis and Maryland have only met once before and it dates back to the 2015-2016 season. The Terps won handily in a 96-55 victory at home. Tune in Tuesday night to see if the Terps can stay perfect against the Red Flash.
