The SMU Mustangs hit the road on Wednesday night to take on the Virginia Cavaliers in college basketball. The Mustangs come into Wednesday night fresh off a 93-71 win over Georgia Tech. The win snapped a two-game losing streak and improved their record to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the ACC. They struggled against Duke and UNC, but bounced back to beat the Yellow Jackets. They now take on a Cavaliers team that they beat earlier this season. The two teams met back on Dec. 7 and the Mustangs picked up a 63-51 win over the Cavaliers to open up ACC play. The Mustangs trailed by seven with 10:19 left in the game, but they turned things on and outscored the Cavaliers by 19 the rest of the game, as they gave up just six points in the last 10 minutes. Kario Oquendo came off the bench to score a game-high 21 points to help the Mustangs get the win. Samet Yigitoglu added 16 points in the win.

The Cavaliers will be looking to avenge that loss as they try and snap a three-game losing streak.

The Cavaliers have struggled over the last week and a half and are coming off a 23-point loss to Stanford on Saturday. It was their third straight loss and dropped them back to .500 on the season at 8-8.

The Cavaliers did beat NC State, but still sit at just 1-4 in the ACC and desperately need to get a win on Wednesday night.

The Cavaliers have not been great on offense this season, as they are averring just 61.6 points per game as a team. Isaac McKneely leads the way at 12.3 points per game, while Elijah Saunders is scoring 11.9 points pre game.
